Contemporary art offers the unique opportunity to meet the people behind the art. Here the public is given the chance to hear the artist speak about his or her work and, most importantly, respond with their own thoughts and questions.

Art Panels

Stay on the cutting-edge of what’s happening in today’s art world. Art panels provide the opportunity to share the experience of talking about art in the comfortable atmosphere of The Art Gallery of Calgary’s inspiring galleries. Art Panels connect artists, curators and other knowledgeable arts professionals in thought- provoking and often provocative discussions.

Art Panel: softcore HARD EDGE
Tuesday, September 14, 7 pm to 9 pm at the Central Library (613 Macleod Trail SE)

How has the history of abstraction informed contemporary art practice today in Calgary and Los Angeles? These are just a few of the questions our panel of experts and arts professionals will be discussing. Our panel includes:
• The Art Gallery of Calgary’s Senior Art Curator Marianne Elder
• Art Curator and Los Angeles Times Art Critic David Pagel
• Calgary scholar, softcore HARD EDGE artist and University of Calgary Professor, Eric Cameron
